The American Garage Minute- Garden Prep

The American Garage is a collaboration between Bradshaw Consulting, Inc. and 3D Houston. The show, filmed in Texas, is about the American know how and spirit of ingenuity. Season 1 of American Garage was based on repairing a David Bradley Tractor using a product of mine which can repair a cast iron tractor, called Castaloy. Season 2, which is currently under production, centers around the creation of a BBQ pit. I’m personally planning to do one of these in my back yard so I’m very excited the producers picked this topic out of the long list of requests by viewers. The American Garage Minute was started as a way to address questions from viewers that did not require a full season to address. So when some guys over at gardentractortalk.com wanted to see the tractor in action, this was the perfect vehicle to do so. I would like to note he has the good fortune of not being snowed in… but instead, is outside getting a garden ready.

Mt Zion Dance-A-Thon

Recently, a local dance studio, Studio B, has decided to do some fundraising to help raise money for one of my alumni from Eisenhower High School who is battling a reoccurring cancer. One of those that I graduated with contacted me about this great opportunity to help others. Studio B, in Mt Zion, IL is hosting a dance-a-thon, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, and a food & bake sale. They are hoping to raise $10,000 to help this young mom out. Bradshaw Consulting was able to help by donating a website with free hosting. Please consider attending this event to bid on items in the auction, purchase some baked goods, or just donate something to help them raise money. The event will be held at the old Salem School in Long Creek, IL on Jan 25th, 2014 from 9 am to 5 pm. If you would like to make a donation of your own to the silent auction, please contact Pamela at 217-602-3000. If you have any questions about anything else, you can contact Becki at 217-422-1269 or email her at BSadomytsc@comcast.net.

Bradshaw Consulting, Inc. press release about Dance-A-Thon

Friday Night Magic

The Hidden Lair has been open for about 2 months at its new location and the decatur gamers love it! I was recently interviewed about a card game called Magic The Gathering. The store has not carried this game since the mid to late 90′s and since the release of Friday Night Magic, it has changed dramatically. Since the purchase of our plaza, which also houses Bradshaw Consulting, Inc., Quality Home Locator, and Wilhoit Accounting and Tax Service, we have much more space to host this weekly event. Now, due to our new and improved space, the decision was made to pick this game back up and provide a place for local magic players to play. Andy, the store manager, expressed the need for this in the Decatur, IL area. Because my goal all along for the shop has been to provide a place for young adults, like my kids and adults like myself, to have a location where they can go and enjoy each others company, it just made sense to begin hosting this event.

The store also runs tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh, Heroclix, and Kaijudo. Yu-Gi-Oh has been around for quite some time and we already have a large following for this very popular event on Sunday’s at 1:00. Heroclix is still up and coming, but is Andy’s all time favorite. Stop in anytime and he will get you going with this exciting game. One of the best things about Heroclix is the low cost to create a winning team as well as it’s detailed figures from all different genres. Kaijudo is a game based on the Saturday morning cartoon and is great for kids 8+ years of age. While the Kaijudo tournament is hosted, we have a big screen TV that plays Kaijudo for the players to watch. Kaijudo tournaments run every Saturday from 11-2.

The January newsletter was posted on the stores website today and announced the addition of new league play rules. Andy and I plan to post more details about that on The Hidden Lair website over the next few days. We are also getting these scheduled for Born of the Gods, which has a pre-release weekend schedule for the end of this month.

Champions of the Lair – New Gaming store in Decatur, IL

The Hidden Lair has been reopened for a month now and the support is overwhelming. They see double digit turn outs for games such as Magic the Gathering, Catan, Yu-Gi-Oh, Heroclix, and many more. The very first Yu-Gi-Oh tournament had about 20 participants. Andy, the store manager and part owner, came up with a great idea called The Champions of the Lair. Whenever the store holds and event the winner of said events is bestowed the title of Champion. He or she is interviewed and an article written about this person on The Hidden Lair website. So far ten skilled players have earned the title of Champion of the Lair hereby named.

Description: The Hidden Lair, formally known as The Lair, is a gaming shop in the Central Illinois area founded by Derrick Lee Bradshaw, Sr. The store’s original location was in Mt Zion on 121 where the current Ace Hardware resides. The store was moved to Decatur in early 2000 and purchased by Bradshaw Consulting, Inc. where it operated on the corner of Wood and Jasper. The corporation started to use it’s connections to branch into more than just hobby and gaming products and soon the gaming part of the store was put on a back burner. Even though most of the attention was given to these other products, this small gaming store continued to supply gamers with much needed content. In early 2010, this store closed down and moved back to Mt Zion where it occupied a very small building in downtown Mt Zion. With the corporations attention no longer being diverted, The Hidden Lair was given the growth it needed, and Oh-My have they grown! The Hidden Lair is now located in a brand new building with room to host weekly sanctioned events in games such as Magic the Gathering, Heroclix, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon.

Millikin area student Housing Year 2014-2015

My company, Quality Home Locator, has been renting houses to Millikin students for over 7 years. Back in 2011, I wrote a guide to off-campus housing based on my experiences with helping other students as well as attending college myself. We are soon approaching the break between Fall 2013 and Spring 2014, which is normally when students start to look at housing for the next school year. Thanksgiving break will be upon us before we know it and having a house picked out before you leave during break greatly increases the chances of finding something that fits your needs or wants. It is very common that during this short period of time, Quality Home Locator will have a large portion of it’s properties leased out. Please contact us as soon as possible if you think you are interested in leasing a property next year.

If you have any questions you can contact my office at 217.864.6485. You can contact me directly via this website as well. Someone always monitors the company website and Facebook page if those forms of communication are easier for you.

Wilhoit Accounting opens new tax office in Mt Zion, IL

Mike Wilhoit is a local accountant serving the Decatur, Forsyth, and Mt Zion area. He has moved his office to a new location on the south side of 121 in Mt Zion. A family man of over 18 years, Michael has been a valuable asset to the community. I have known him for several years now on both a personal and business level. I can honestly say it has been a pleasure to be his friend and the level of service I get from him regarding my accounting is stellar. I’m sure someone you know has had Michael handle their taxes so don’t take my word for it, ask them. Ever since Michael began working with Bradshaw Consulting, Inc. and Quality Home Locator I have been able to focus more on my business and not my accounting. He even saved me some money on my tax return last year!

Wilhoit Accounting and Tax Service‘s new location is 322 North State Highway 121. His phone number has also been updated to 1.217.864.1850 with a fax number of 217.864.1849. Don’t let the North 121 fool you, it is really far south on 121 near the Firehouse. If you are traveling south on 121 the road will start to curve to the left after Filippo’s Pizza. The building is across the street from Mt Zion Auto Service which is a new auto service shop.
